About Add Page Numbers to PDF
Page numbers are one of those small details that make a long document usable — a 40-page contract without them is a nightmare to reference on a call, and a printed report that gets shuffled is much easier to put back in order when every sheet says "12" at the bottom. Yet plenty of PDFs, especially ones scanned or exported from tools that don't add pagination automatically, end up without any.
This tool numbers every page of a PDF directly in the browser. It reads the file into memory, stamps a number onto each page at the position you choose, and hands you back a new PDF — no upload before you configure it, no upload after you download the result.
Numbers can go at the top, the bottom, or both, and can be aligned left, center, or right — the classic "bottom-center" placement is the default, but a top-right running number works just as well for some document styles. Font size and color are yours to set, and a live preview shows exactly how a numbered page will look as you adjust each setting.
Cover pages, title pages, and tables of contents usually shouldn't be numbered "1" — this tool lets you skip a set number of pages at the start of the document, and numbering picks up at "1" on the first page after the skipped ones. Since the numbers are drawn as real vector text rather than an image, they stay crisp at any zoom and barely affect file size.
